The Silver Anniversary Edition of the Pepsi Challenge Daytona 24 Hours took place in 1983 at the Daytona International Speedway and served as the opening round of the IMSA GT Championship.
In the GTP class, overall victory went to the No. 6 Henn's Swap Shop Racing Porsche 935 of Bob Wollek, Claude Ballot-Lena, Preston Henn and A.J. Foyt. The remaining podium positions were filled by a host of American drivers and teams and the Motorsports Marketing March 83G finished second, only 6 laps behind the winner and the the No.7 Racing Beat Mazda RX-7 from the GTO class finished third overall. The 1983 Daytona 24 Hours also welcomed a celebrity driver to the field and Hollywood star Gene Hackman drove All American Racers team Toyota Celica in the GTU class, alongside Japanese drivers Masanori Sekiya and Kaoru Hoshino.
