Before Schumacher and Vettel Germany had already produced
a number of illustrious Grand Prix drivers worthy of the title ‘Legend.’
Wolfgang von Tripps was only 33 when he lost his life in a
crash at Monza – if he’d finished that race in third or higher he would have
been Germany’s first World Champion.
Jochen Rindt was born in Germnay but drove for Austria in
World Championships. He won the 1970 Championship series but never collected
his trophy – he was killed in a crash at Monza before the season ended.
