Round 4 of the 1989 World 500 Motocross GP Championship took place at the daunting hillside circuit of Fermo, Italy. It was an exciting round with some surprises - and a few disasters! American challenger Billy Liles had his share of misfortune - he gated in fourth place and held it until a stone smashed his goggles causing him to crash. The event developed into a series of dogfights and the lead passed from one challenger to another - Jacky Martens (KTM), Jeff Leisk (Honda), Eric Geboers (Honda) Dave Thorpe (Honda) and Kurt Nicolls (Kawasaki) - but the finish was not a foregone conclusion. Fifty two minutes of fire-cracker action brilliantly captured right here!
