Product description

A driver, a car and an open road are all you need for a motoring adventure, but throw in snow, extreme heat, mountains, racing and even some fishing and you have all the ingredients for an epic road trip.

From the BP Video Library comes archive film detailing three very different motoring journeys. There’s adventure, danger, fierce contest and humour set against the most spectacular scenery – get ready to travel the world without leaving your armchair!

Crossroads Alice recounts the epic 12,000 journey around Australia which four men, armed with only a Mini and an Austin 1800, embarked on in November 1965. The figure-of-eight route saw the team, which included ‘Gelignite’ Jack Murray, contend with snow, mountains, storms, dust, floods and searing temperatures. As well as discovering how the team and cars cope with the demanding conditions, this is a chance to see the fascinating people, places, landscape, wildlife and history of Australia.

Inca Road documents the 1970 running of the incredible Los Caminos del Incas Rally. The 2,700 kilometre route climbs 16,000 feet into the Andes of Peru and pitches the skill and bravery of rally drivers against snow, mud, dust and terrifying ravines. Legend Hannu Mikkola is among those to take the start, but the race is all about local drivers Henry Bradley and Luis Carlessi as the field of Ford Escorts, Mustangs, Volvos, Fiats, Minis and BMWs roar through the iconic mountain range.

Finally, The Taking Mood is a light hearted film telling the story of two men as they drive more than 1,500 miles across New Zealand as part of a bet to land three fish and make it home first. It is humorous viewing as the pair are beset by distractions and disasters on their road trip, but it is also a wonderful chance to enjoy the spectacular scenery of this incredible country.
