Product description

1994 marked the second season of the BRDC National Sports GT Challenge and it delivered six rounds packed with tremendous battles, unexpected winners and a remarkable assortment of machinery, from replica racers to thunder saloons.

The season was defined by the relentless pace and reliability of the Chamberlain-run Lotus Esprit S300s, driven by Thorkild Thyrring and Andreas Fuchs. Thyrring set a blistering pace early on, taking a commanding victory in the opening three rounds at Silverstone and Donington Park where he finished ahead of his teammate Fuchs.

But the Lotus team didn't have it all their own way and Nigel Barrett, driving a Porsche 911 RS, took one win and several top 10 finishes across the season. Despite fierce late-season opposition from Michel Ferté and Chris Hodgetts (Marcos LM500), Thyrring's consistent class victories were enough to secure the overall 1994 BRDC National Sports GT Championship title by a slim five-point margin over his main rival, Nigel Barrett.

Relive this superb season of national sports GT race action with this 20 minute highlights programme from Duke Video.
