During the period 1967-1974, the Bathurst 500 was increased in length to become the Bathurst 1000, and it was during this period that some of the people that were to become ‘household’ names came to the fore, including the ‘King of the Mountain’ Peter Brock, Canadian Allan Moffatt, John Goss and Colin Bond. It was also a time of great rivalry between Ford and Holden with both teams striving to achieve supremacy.
