There was probably little doubt that Nissan would take victory at Tooheys 1000 in 1991. The Nissan CT-R was clearly the ultimate touring car of the moment with its four-wheel drive, four-wheel steer and electronic brains galore which totally dominated Australian Touring Car racing for the last twelve months or so.
Bathurst usually sees a challenge between Holden and Ford but this year they were merely the also-rans along with BMW. For Ford, in fact, the result could hardly have been worse with the leading Sierra disqualified and two other front running cars retiring within ten laps of the finish. Once again, Channel Seven have provided their usual stunning coverage with another 90 minute epic.
