Matt Hayes is widely regarded as one of the the best all-round anglers in Britain and Mick Brown is known to be the predatory angler with an excellent knowledge of UK fishing sites. Join them both on this, their latest challenge, as they travel across England and Wales to bag some truly monster fish and break many of their own personal bests, catching some of the biggest fish of their careers. Meeting some of the current record holders along the way, Matt and Mick learn more about the fish they are hoping to catch and when and how each record was achieved.
In this volume Matt and Mick go after river pike, fishing on the River Wye. Using float and jerk techniques, the boys fish well into the night and mick's hard work eventually pays off when he lands a pike in the dark! Then it's onto Horseshoe Lake in Gloucestershire in search of tench and rudd. After a very difficult stalking session, Matt reels in a personal best rudd at 3lb 2oz, very big by today's standards.
Finally, on the Dorset stour after a good bag of chub and pike, hopes are failing for a grayling, so an urgent trip across country to the River Test is made. Will their patience be rewarded?
