Truly inspirational people are few and far between in these days of celebrity obsession and 30 second attention spans.
Meet the Race2Recovery team. As soldiers these guys received life-altering injuries in the service of their countries; injuries which would have held back ordinary people.
Recuperating from their wounds this small group of ex-soldiers decided to prove to themselves – and the world – that their newly imposed physical limitations shouldn't be a bar to achieving lifelong dreams.
Brought together by chance, these Afghanistan veterans were bonded by the desire to overcome almost insurmountable odds and conquer the most demanding motorsport event of them all: The Dakar Rally.
The story starts with Race to Dakar as the team comes together to plan for the rigours of the famous rally raid. As well as preparing their Wildcat Land Rovers they must prepare themselves for two weeks of almost continuous racing.
Frontline to Finish Line tells the story of the team’s Dakar experience as they race from the deserts of Peru, over the Andes into Argentina before crossing the Andes once more into Chile.
Along the way they endure searing heat, freezing nights, mechanical failure and heartbreaking tragedy. Through it all the indomitable spirit of this group of war-scarred ex-soldiers make them keep going as they try to realise the dream of a Dakar finish.
This is the inspirational and uplifting story of a team who don’t seem to know the meaning of the word ‘impossible’.
