Welsh spectators were treated to a display of World Rally Championship class driving at the 1990 Audi Sport Rally, when 83 teams set off in what proved to be another challenging and lively round of the Shell Open Rally Series. Drivers at the top end included Colin McRae, Russell Brookes and Graham Middleton, each behind the wheel of a formidable Ford Sapphire Cosworth 4x4. Japanese hopes were pinned on two Subaru Legacy's driven respectively by Markku Alen and 'Possum' Bourne. Others with an eye on the winners' rostrum included Jim Bothwell (Toyota Celica GT-Four), Geoff Jones (Mitsubishi Galant VR-4) and Dave Metcalfe (Vauxhall Nova GTE). Superb coverage of these rally maestros in action.
