Former F1 drivers Jochen Mass and Jacky Ickx led a galaxy of Porsches only interrupted by a lone Lancia in Round 3 of the 1985 FIA World Endurance Championship. Around the ultra-fast Silverstone track, there was no stopping the established pairing of Mass and Ickx as they thrashed the 2.6 Porsche 962C turbo for nearly five hours at speeds well over 120 mph average. Ricardo Patrese qualified quickest at 149 mph in the Lancia. Jonathan Palmer set a new race lap record. For the Lancias third and fifth place were scant reward for such effort. This film captures the 200 mph speeds with Derek Bell and Jan Lammers also in the thick of the action.
