In 2007 an amazing 264 motorcycles, 189 cars and 85 trucks and some of the greatest names in motorsport - including Dakar greats Cyril Despres, Stephane Peterhanse, Luc Alphand and Ari Vatanen - did battle with the elements during the fascinating machine and spirit-breaking contest. Departing Portugal and weaving through Africa, from Morocco to Senegal, many were forced out of contention by the tough conditions, ensuring the fight for supremancy remained tense down to the wire.
