The top teams were all on parade at the Dutch round of the 500cc Motocross Grand Prix 1986. Honda's ex-champion Andre Malherbe had stolen the early advantage but British contenders Dave Thorpe (Honda) and Rob Andrews (Kawasaki) and the Yamaha and KTM men were in no mood for compromise. As this video vividly depicts, the high-speed banked corners, deep ruts and massive jumps threw up a superb challenge to men and machines...for one of the Kawasaki team, there was a rude surprise when his machine all but disintegrated while the sheer pace of the event accounted for a number of other top riders in spectacular crashes. High quality review of an exciting event.
