The 1981 Race of The Year which follows the Pro-Am was one of the closest fought for years with Barry Sheene, New Zealander Graeme Crosby and American Randy Mamola dicing with Ballington who by now has two world championships to his name, Ron Haslam on the big Honda is just one of the other featured riders.
