DERBYIn July 2000, the Railway Diary team visited Derby and what a visit it turned out to be! Starting at 06:26 as a 153/170 combination arrived with the 05:58 Nottingham to Cardiff, to be followed immediately by ‘Fragonset’ 47 no. 47709 on the 06:05 Sheffield to Birmingham New St. The day was action-packed and did not finishing until the late evening.
CREWEIn August 2000, the Railway Diary team visited the station at Crewe as well as Winsford, on the West Coast Main Line, to capture some of the freight workings which avoid the station complex. The action began as 92016 moved towards the electric depot and continued throughout the day concluding with 47750 ‘Atlas’ as it replaced an a/c electric on the 19:48 departure to Holyhead.
READINGIn July 2001, the Railway Diary team visited Reading and Reading West stations to capture railway activity in and around the station complex as well as the many freight workings which travel between Didcot and the Southern and avoid Reading station.
In addition to the non-stop procession of freight, passenger and parcels workings, the locomotive identities, passing times and working details are included as ‘on screen’ captions. A brief commentary is also added to further enhance your enjoyment of the proceedings!
