This programme features archive footage that documents the earliest experiments with flight (as well as some of the heroic failures!) including Louis Bleriot who made the first flight across the English Channel in 1909.
It chronicles the rise in importance of air-power during two World Wars, with incredible footage of the Sopwith Camel and Fokker Tri-planes of World War 1, and Spitfires the fought for control of the skies in World War II.
