London, The Isle of Wight, Scotland
This DVD covers the London area, the Isle of Wight and Scotland. Until the mid 1960s the Isle of Wight still depended on small Victorian 0-4-4 tank engines of the “O2” class to operate its operate its island network. Our cameramen were on hand to record some of these locomotives.
Back on the mainland we travel via Southampton and Brighton to the London area where steam engines are seen at several of the main line terminus stations as well as in the suburbs. A brief look at Bletchley is followed by a comprehensive journey around Scotland before line closures and dieselisation were to change the country’s railway scene forever.
