Round 6 of the 1990 world rally series took place in New Zealand in conditions that varied between lashing storms, high winds and snow - auguring bad news for 2 wheel drive vehicles. The four-day event, with 43 special stages attracted many of the world's top drivers, including Carlos Sainz (Toyota Celica GT-Four), Tommi Makinen (Mitsubishi Galant VR-4), Mike Kirkland and Possum Bourne (Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbos), Ingvar Carlsson (Mazda 323 4WD) and Jorge Recalde (Lancia Delta Integrale 16v). It's an all-action round from beginning to end with plenty of full-blooded battles for supremacy along the way and a well deserved conclusion.
