Formula Ford World Cup, Brands Hatch, October 28-30, 1983
The annual World Cup of Formula Ford racing is where the
most promising up-and-coming drivers from all over the world compete against
each other for the chance of victory and a move up the ladder of success to the
ultimate goal - Formula One.
This year saw 128 drivers from 16 nations fighting their way
through 14 heats to the Grand Final. What Formula Ford lacks in outright speed
it makes up for in sheer spectacle.
The aggressive driving of the young
competitors, heightened by the introduction of a £5,000 prize for the first
sub-49 second lap of the Brands Hatch circuit, produces many sensational
incidents - over a dozen of which are captured on film by the Videovision
cameras.
