A Very Special Weekend Of Racing
The reunion of forty GT-40s from places as far away as South Africa at a US road course was a high powered and popular event organised by the SVRA. This collector’s choice video is the only current production dedicated to the GT-40 and its unique racing history. We begin with the 1989 GT-40 ceremony in the town of Watkins Glen. It shows the current layout of the Watkins Glen race course and reveals the behind-the-scenes story of the GT-40 racing team programme involving John Weyer, Ford, Gulf and other major contributors. Fascinating interviews with reunion drivers like Jacky Ickx, Brian Redman and Stirling Moss are provided along with archive footage of the 1960s GT-40 wins in Europe and the USA. The reunion parade lap of GT-40s leads right into the SVRA 1989 endurance race which features vintage sports cars representing most groups of competitors.
Redman, Stillwell, Moss and other GT-40 drivers show off their driving skills in one of the best vintage races of 1989.
