It was make or break day at the Citadel track. Dave Thorpe (Honda) pronounced himself fit after breaking a collarbone at the Dutch round. But was he fit enough to maintain his challenge to Erik Geboers at the '88 Belgian GP? Geboers (Honda) had everything to go for in front of his home crowd - he had the opportunity to clinch the world title and become the first rider to have won all three World titles - 125, 250 and 500 cc. Kurt Nicoll (Kawasaki) was the only other rider with a chance of denying Geboers his hat trick of titles. The 1988 season was drawing to a close but the action was non stop!
