May 24th 1987 was the Golden Anniversary celebration of Springfield where the bravest fastest motorcycle racers have gone to do battle. With speeds up to 130mph and full-lock, feet-on-the-pegs cornering, this is where Kenny Roberts perfected the 'ride on the slide' style. Harleys dominated the event in its early years before Japanese-engined bikes appeared on the scene. A wide selection of machinery added nostalgia to the Anniversary event which attracted Jay Springsteen, Doug Chandler and Tim Mertens. The main event saw Scott Parker taking 1st place with his Harley leading Bubba Shobert and Rick Graham home. This remarkable riding record captures many of the great names from Springfield's long and glorious history.
