Mambo originated in Haiti. ‘Mambo’ is the name of a Voodoo priestess in the religion brought by Negro slaves from Africa. So this most vibrant and scintillating music had its origins in the religious ritual dances of West Africa. In South America, indigenous and Spanish influences made it one of the most celebrated Latin styles.
