This evocative photograph, from the archives of LAT, shows
World Rally legend Colin McRae looking relaxed and happy at the 2007 Goodwood
Festival of Speed.
The Scot – Britain’s first World Rally Champion – was on the
verge of launching his own rally car, a new range of merchandise and announcing
competition plans for the next year.
Tragically, just a few weeks later Colin, his young son and
two family friends would lose their lives in a helicopter crash.
This photo shows Colin as his millions of fans will remember
him, happy, confident and always looking forward to the future.
