Ian Hutchinson's career was thrown into doubt when he suffered a severe broken leg at the end of 201o, just months after winning a record-breaking 5 Isle of Man TT races in a week.
As he recovered in 2011 he was unable to race, and amazed many when he said he intended to make his racing return at the demanding Macau Grand Prix.
Despite the critics, Hutchy turned up and was immediately on the pace on the Swan Yamaha, and battled hard around the tight street circuit to finish an exceptional third.
This image, by Stephen Davison, shows Hutchinson inches from the Macau walls on his way to podium success.
