Motorsport 1950
Some of the earliest film from Castrol Library providing a visual feast of cars. Maserati, Fraser Nash, ERA, Alvis, Alfa, Jaguar XK 120 and BRM, (on its debut appearance) can be seen in action at venues as diverse as the European Grand Prix at Silverstone and Hillclimbing at Shelsey Walsh and Prescott. Also featured are the entertaining 500 Club races at Silverstone, the Empire Trophy Races in the Isle of Man and the Goodwood races. The drivers' names read like a who's-who of this golden era of motoring - Fangio, Reg Parnell, Cooper, and Fagioli. (Black & White)
Motorsport 1953
This 1953 footage featuring the milestone moments of the inaugural meeting at Oulton Park with some of the earliest on-board camera work. There's also coverage of the Swiss Grand Prix, where we're treated to the lusty growls of early Ferraris, Cooper Bristols, Gordinis and many others, being driven (over cobbles!) by Fangio, Mike Hawthorn, Farina, Bonnetto, and the two-time World Champion - Alberto Ascari. The second part of the film covers early powerboat racing at Windermere. (Colour)
