The pressure was well and truly on in the thrilling 1987 European Rallycross Championship as it began to move into its final stages. Winner of the Fifth Round at Le Creusot had been Anders Norstedt (Saab 900 Turbo) in Division One, and Olle Arnesson (Audi Quattro S1 20v) in Division Two. In the Sixth Round Herbert Breiteneder (VW Golf GTi 16V) and Matti Alamaki (Lancia Delta S4) had taken the honours. The action switched to Belgium for Round Seven and the Netherlands for Round Eight.
