The 2000 British GT Championship was an intensely competitive season defined by mechanical attrition and a tight championship battle between the Lister Storm, Marcos Mantis LM600 and Marcos Mantara LM600 Evo.
Despite winning six races, the Cirtek Motorsport Lister Storm driven by Dave Warnock, Rob Shircle, Jamie Campbell-Walter, Tiff Needell, Richard Dean and Julian Bailey, was plagued by reliability issues late in the season, including crucial failures at Spa and Snetterton.
This opened the door for Calum Lockie (Marcos Mantis LM600) and Cor Euser (Marcos Mantara LM600 Evo) and although Lockie struggled with spins, his superb pace and strong end to the season, securing maximum points in the final two rounds, earned Lockie the championship title by a mere 4 points from David Warnock in the final race at Silverstone.
Other highlights included the powerful, but fragile, TVR Cerbera Speed 12, taking its maiden win at Silverstone and the Porsche 911 GT3-R of Mark Sumpter and Mike Jordan dominating the GTO class, taking the top two championship positions respectively.
