The 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship was the most competitive ever – with five drivers heading into the 10th and final round with a chance of taking the title, and the top three split by just 5 points!
The Official Review has pulsating action from all 30 races, right down to the championship-deciding final lap. Amazing footage, from trackside and on-board the cars, captures vital passes, clashes, crashes and wins as we follow the title fight.
After a tension-filled campaign, it all came down to the final day for reigning Champion Jason Plato, Honda challengers Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden and Independent Championship rivals James Nash and Mat Jackson. After misfortune for Silverline Chevrolet’s Plato, it was left to Neal and Shedden to battle it out in the very last race of the year.
With 10 car makes represented, the battle between the turbos and normally-aspirated machines and the introduction of the Next Generation Touring Cars, the unpredictable 2011 season had as many ups and downs as the Knockhill circuit – and saw eight drivers take victories, including maiden wins for Nash and Tom Boardman.
Over more than 7 hours of edge-of-the-seat viewing we relive every race, with commentary from Ben Edwards former BTCC Champion Tim Harvey, and are treated to gripping last-lap dashes for the flag – including the Croft race settled by just 0.055 of a second. Plus, of course, there’s all the panel-denting drama the BTCC is famous for, including the mayhem at Donington, the Honda mishap at Oulton Park and the Knockhill shunt which left Plato furious.
This is an epic review of a truly epic season of the BTCC at its best.
