Alessandro ‘Alex’ Zanardi and Christian Fittipaldi were split by just five points at the end of the 1991 Formula 3000 International Championship. Both drivers claimed two wins each, but Fittipaldi was a more consistent points finisher, with just two retirements in the season and points in every race he finished. Zanardi’s season was more up and down, when he finished he was in points, but he retired in four races.
