It was down to the wire until the very end in a competition between Honda’s RR’s and Yamaha’s R6’s, but Frenchman Sebastien Charpentier showed he’d come along way since starting out on mopeds heading into 2007 as the reigning World Champion for the second consecutive year. Overcoming impossible situations like a broken pelvis bone, the Frenchman made World Supersport history and, despite the hard work from Yamaha and Australia’s Curtain, he became the first rider to make back-to-back championship wins. In doing so he gave Honda and his Ten Kate team their fifth Rider’s Championship in a row.
