Round 7 of the 1990 World Bike GP Championship at Rijeka, Yugoslavia. Wayne Rainey (Marlboro Yamaha) set off determined not to be caught napping by Kevin Schwantz (Suzuki). Sad to say, disaster lay in wait for some of the big names in the business, including Sito Pons (Honda). Quarter litre enthusiasts saw Carlos Cardus (Honda), John Kocinski (Yamaha), Martin Wimmer (Aprilia), Reinhold Roth (Honda), Luca Cadalora (Yamaha) and Helmut Bradl (Honda) competing in another stunning race which was sadly marred when Reinhold Roth was seriously injured in a major pile up. Shortly before, the German ace had achieved a new lap record at a speed of 163.181 kph.
