Welcome to the 'Triangle', where Ireland's most famous motorbike races, the North West 200, are fiercely contested over 7.5 miles of public roads every year in May. The course is a fast one with long straights, tight corners and chicanes, which allow for breathtaking duels between riders at hair-raising speeds!
Needless to say, the challenge of these races draws some of the biggest names in road racing today… Michael Rutter, John McGuinness, Adrian Archibald, Bruce Anstey to name a few, as well as over 100,000 spectators every year!
The 2005 Junction One International North West 200 started off well as records fell in the first Superbike race. Michael Rutter on his factory Honda took not only his eleventh North West win but also broke the lap record! However, it was Bruce Anstey that dominated the day as sunshine gave way to torrential rain, hailstones and showers. The Kiwi was not deterred and in an amazing display of riding on his TAS Suzuki took victory in the main race of the event, the NW200 Superbike race.
NW200 2005, truly road racing at its heart-stopping best!
