Bagpipes began to lose favour in England from the 16th century and were increasingly considered to be an instrument of the North. During the 19th century Highland pipes were adopted by the British Army and bagpipes were regarded as a Scots instrument. Few Englishmen knew that bagpipes had ever been part of their heritage. This outstanding disc reveals the long-lost beauty of English bagpiping at its very best.
