The London and North Eastern Railway (The LNER) was the major railway serving the Eastern area of Great Britin, with its lines covering East Anglia, Yorkshire, Northumberland and the Scottish coast to Aberdeen.
Its wide variety of steam locomotives - which included the most famous and fastest of all time "Flying Scotsman" and "Mallard" - is well represented today in the world of preservstion and on the main lines of British Rail.
