Almost 4 hours of rally action from Greece featuring Rohrl, Vatanen, Kankkunen, Sainz, Alen, Mikkola, Blomqvist, Salonen, Toivonen, Biasion, Auriol, Delecour, Ericsson
The car and spirit-breaking Acropolis Rally is one of the World Rally Championship’s legendary events. The searing heat, billowing dust and energy-sapping gravel surfaces demanded the finest car-handling skills, exceptional consistency, complete reliability and more than a little luck.
Settle in for almost 4 hours of classic rally action from 8 drama-packed years from this epic event. We start in 1984, at the height of the fire-breathing Group B era, and continue through to 1991, and the equally thrilling Group A period.
Along the way we witness the biggest names in rallying tackling some of the hardest special stages ever devised, battling with the conditions, terrain and, often, the unruly spectators! Watch legends like Walter Rohrl, Ari Vatanen, Juha Kankkunen, Stig Blomqvist and Henri Toivonen in action in a stunning array of iconic cars, including the 037, S4 and Delta HF Integrale from Lancia, Ford’s Group B RS200 and Group A Sierra, the monstrous Audi Quattros and Peugeot 205 T16s, plus, of course, the ‘modern’ Japanese supercars from Toyota, Subaru and Mitsubishi.
The action-packed coverage of year, complete with the best stage-side footage, interviews and expert commentary, delivers all the drama, tension and controversy of one of the WRC’s most demanding events. Over the 8 years we see seven different winners crowned, often in the dying moments of the arduous test of driver and machine, including the first ever WRC win for the great Carlos Sainz.
