Starting from York in the North, the 1988 RAC Rally traversed the length and breadth of mainland Britain to severely test the skills and stamina of the world's best drivers. Markku Alen was on 'maximum attack' driving the works Lancia Delta at mind-boggling speeds in the icy conditions - although it was also 'maximum mechanics' on a few occasions after unscheduled excursions! His major rival in the rapidly improving 4WD Toyota, Juha Kankkunen, and half a dozen other top-line drivers were not going to make the job easy, however. A feast of motorsport spectacle and drama from beginning to end which also features action from the 1000 Lakes Rally where the Flying Finns really fly!
