Yugoslavian-born Al Cernick became Guy Mitchell, the enormously popular, likeable pop singer of the fifties. After a stint in the U S Navy, he signed with Columbia and his hit list took off. Mitch Miller wrote much of his repertoire. He is still popular, and his songs continue to be popular the world over.
