The railway art of John Austin
John Austin
Britain’s most celebrated living railway artist, John Austin, has resisted
numerous requests to compile a book about his life and work – until
now. This long-awaited title, beautifully produced in large format on art
paper, presents 100 of his best portrayals of steam trains, each painting
accompanied by text explaining the setting, the subject and the
techniques used, and in some cases the preliminary sketches. An
honorary fellow of the Guild of Railway Artists, John Austin also
describes his own professional background.
