The action certainly goes with a bang in the 1987 Fireworks 250 Desert Race featuring one of America's classics staged at Barstow, California. Purpose-built vehicles raced round three laps of a tortuous 80-mile circuit where speeds sometimes hit incredible levels. Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet and Nissan are all represented in the power units of the fabulously engineered trucks and buggies. The cameras visit the pits for driver interviews, get into the air for spectacular overhead shots and travel to the outback to bring the endurance of this type of racing, where competitors such as Frank Arciero, Manny Esquerra, Roger Mears and Mark McMillin really show how it should be done.
