Joe Thornton, a TT rider and antiques dealer from York, painted the ‘K’ on the tree just before the left-hander at Kerrowboar to warn himself of the protruding the kerb on the left. The ‘K’ is touched up on a regular basis and has been a life-saver for many riders. The fastidious rider made marks throughout the entire course.
Rachel Clegg pays tribute to this moment in Isle of Man TT history with this eye-catching photo, as seen in her TT Milestones 2013 calendar.
