The third series of the popular travel documentary sees
Michael Portillo embark on railway journeys across Europe as he follows
Bradshaw’s 1913 Continental Railway Guide.
He travels as far east as Moscow
from the industrial city of Tula, ventures into the Negev desert from Haifa,
traverses the straights of Messina on a train carrying ferry and explores the
rugged land between A Coruña and Lisbon.
As ever, Michael is an engaging host as we
join him to visit interesting cultural, historical and geographical sites, meet
with locals and discover the background of the railways on which he travels.
careful though, this programme should come with a warning; Watching this series
WILL make you want to book a ticket on the Eurostar and start exploring Europe
from the comfort of a railway coach.
