DEWS (Downton Engineering Works
Social Club) MINI WEEKEND
In
a feast for all Mini enthusiasts, Downton Engineering, the original competition
tuners of the car, celebrates 50 years of Alec Issigonis’s iconic motoring
marvel at Gurston Down’s high speed hillclimb course in Wiltshire. In one of
the largest collections of Minis ever seen at a single event, road cars and
racers alike climb the British Championship hill in a series of demonstration
runs.
1978 British Touring Car champion Richard Longman in his Patrick Motor
Sport 1275 GT, the amazing twin Mini-engined Deep Sanderson of Chris Lawrence,
the ex.works BMC rally car GRX 310D of Natalie Gilbert and the very original
1964 Cooper S of hillclimber-turned-historic rallyman Nicky Porter are just
some of the cars featured, while the on-track action is backed up by in-depth
interviews and exciting on-board footage.
