The picturesque fishing village of Peel on the west coast of the Island is the traditional home of the annual Manx Kart Grand Prix. The town has a unique round-the-houses circuit which combines fast downhill straights with a variety of fast and slow tricky corners. Police radars have recorded the karts racing in excess of 110mph in places and the average lap speed is around 70mph. Little wonder then, that the 2002 event witnessed packed grids as some of today's hottest kart drivers assembled to face the white-knuckle challenge of this 1.25 mile circuit.
