Round 7 of the 1990 world rally series was a closely fought contest with Lancia making a determined bid to oust all Japanese efforts to encroach on their supremacy. To this effect Martini Lancia entered new cars (Lancia Delta Integrales 16vs) for Miki Biasion, Didier Auriol and Juha Kankkunen. Toyota countered this with Spanish speedster Carlos Sainz and Jorge Recalde, both piloting fabulous Celica GT-4s. Other worthies included Rudi Stohl (Audi 90 Quattro), Gabriel Martin (Fiat Regatta 85) and Paul Lemos in the VW Golf GTi injection 2-litre which proved embarrassingly quick. An excellent round in all respects and worthy of a place of honour on your shelf.
