The 2nd innings started badly with England at 39 for 3 and Mitchell Johonson on the prowl, however England's latest debuatant in the form of Jonathan Trott helped Stauss to steady the ship going into the third day. With the pitch not improving Trott moved to his maiden Test century and with some lusty blows from Flintoff, Broad and Swann saw England declare on 379 for 9 leaving the Aussies the small total of 546 to win and two clear days to play.
