The Nias Deep Jungle Open is the first ever visit from the Association of Surf Professionals to earthquake struck Sumatra.
The objective of the laborious journey by plane and bus was the legendary Lagundri Bay and the opportunity to surf a legendary wave. Discovered in 1975 by three Australians on the quest for the perfect wave, Lagundri is located on the remote island of Nias, off Sumatras south west coast.
After a nerve-wracking wait for the swell to arrive give an opportunity for an insight into the personalities and lifestyle. Just in time, the gruelling journey pays off - heavy 8-footers landed in sets every 10 minutes on the right hander Chuckles Brea. Nias delivers for the surfers and the viewers.
The Deep Jungle Open contains stunning and award-winning 16mm footage combined with an ambient soundtrack.
