Here, in Part 1, the story begins in 1934 and includes the following highlights: the birth of Auto Union and Prof. Porsche’s mid-engined masterpiece; Hans Stuck’s year. 1935 - Rudolf Caracciola is first European Champion with Mercedes-Benz; 1936 - German, Swiss and Italian GPs won by sensational new Champion, Bernd Rosemeyer, whose wife, Elly, is interviewed about their flight to South Africa. 1937 - New Mercedes W125 wins at Tripoli, Rosemeyer tests the new banking at Avus but Hermann Land wins the GP; Bernd wins Eifel GP then breaks records on the autobahn; both teams go to New York for the Vanderbilt Cup and Bernd wins again; Auto Union are 1st and 2nd at Spa; Caracciola wins German GP but Ernst von Delius is killed; Hans Stuck wins the Mountain Championship at Freburg.
