News coverage from the Blackpool tramway from the autumn months of 2008:

See the best of the Blackpool tram fleet in action from the autumn Illuminations, filmed on a busy Saturday evening in September and during the half term week in late October.

Features cars 40, 66, 147, 600, 602, 605, 619, 623, 660, 717 and the two Illuminated cars.

2008 wasn't a very good year for the Twin cars but four sets were used in October. All four are featured.

700 smashed its pantograph at Bispham in October. Our cameras were there to record the incident.

623 and 702 in Fleetwood after dark.

A sunny Fleetwood Market Tuesday from September is also included.

717 & 752:

Balloon 717 settled down to regular service during the autumn following its heritage overhaul. In a special filming session, the tram is covered in detail both inside and out.

Railgrinder 752 dates to the mid-1920s and is one of the most unusual trams in the fleet. During October it was acquired for preservation and left Blackpool by road. This odd beast is filmed in detail both inside and out before being loaded up in the Bus Yard and departing for its new home in Manchester.

Western Train Report:

Update on the progress of the Western Train restoration with the carriage, 734 moving from the depot to the Body Shop and the locomotive, 733 moving from the Body Shop to the Paint Shop. 733 is then painted into red, yellow and green!

Year End:

The entire operational Blackpool tram fleet as they finished the 2008 season. All 57 cars which ran in passenger service are featured.
