Perhaps the influential musical of the last century, Showboat was a collaboration between Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II. Both wanted to add substance to the then fluffy musical genre and succeeded brilliantly producing a score packed with show-stopping numbers. A mould-breaking musical.
